Model and results disappeared

Hi all,

I’m new to PrePoMax and currently using it for my final year research. I’ve run into an issue where, after completing an analysis, the model and results don’t appear in the viewport. However, when I drag the mouse over the empty space, it seems to detect the model, suggesting it’s there but just not visible.

I’ve tried adjusting the view options, but nothing has worked so far. I also tested the same model file on another device, and it displayed correctly. The problem isn’t limited to one file none of the PrePoMax files show in the viewport on this device, even when I try to import a new STEP model.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you share a screenshot or (possibly) recording of your PrePoMax window when this is happening ? Are there any relevant messages in the report window ? Is PrePoMax located in a directory with no access restrictions ?

Here’s a screenshot of the issue. When I drag the mouse over the empty space in the viewport, it detects the model Solid part-1 gets highlighted in blue but nothing is actually visible in the Geometry, FE Model, or Results views. No messages in the report window.

For context, everything was displaying normally before the analysis was completed.

Just a note: I’m using AnyDesk to access a school computer since it’s more powerful than my personal laptop for running the analysis. AnyDesk is already set up to give me full access.

So it works without AnyDesk ?

Yes, the same file opens normally on my personal laptop. It also worked fine on the school computer via AnyDesk at the beginning.

Here’s the process I followed: I set up the model on my personal laptop, then used AnyDesk to access the school computer and run the analysis there. Initially, everything loaded and ran as expected. The analysis completed without issues, but when I tried to view the results, the problem I mentioned earlier appeared.

I then tried opening a different model, but the same issue occurred. Even starting a new project didn’t help the viewport still wouldn’t display anything.

I have no experience with AnyDesk, but I am using Google Remote Desktop a lot, and PrePoMax works without issues. It could be an AnyDesk issue.

I also use Anydesk to access my PC at work. I don’t have any issues with Prepomax. You could perhaps try different hardware acceleration settings in Anydesk (OpenGL, Direct3D etc.)

Thank you for all your responses

The issue has been resolved. The problem was due to the remote PC not being connected to an active monitor. It appears that when the monitor is turned off or disconnected, PrePoMax (or the PC) does not detect a display, which results in an empty viewport.

Once the monitor is connected and powered on, the viewport displays normally.
Please note that while the analysis can still be run without a display, the model and results will not appear in the viewport until a monitor is actively connected.

Now I remember we had similar issues with other software on remotely accessed PCs without an active monitor. At the end we bough a HDMI dongle that convinces the PC it is a monitor
