It seems our faculty web page is down, so I am sharing Mega link to PrePoMax executable files: 826.53 MB folder on MEGA
The website is back today.
I tried version 2.5.0 this morning; all I got was the splash screen for about a second, then the PrePoMax process died. Version 2.4.0 works as normal.
I have the same problem, but only on one old laptop with Windows 10. It started from one of the dev versions.
Local mesh size is not working correctly
Specifically, what’s wrong with it ? The specified element size is not respected ? A new mode was added allowing also the direct specification of the number of elements.
elm size is not as in feature
Could the reason for the crash be the same as in the Linux environment?
I also suspect that. Later, I will check which dev version is the first one failing to start on that Windows computer. I’ve tried running it from the command line, as admin and in the compatibility mode. I also disabled firewall. None of that helped.
I’ve just noticed something interesting. On a newer laptop with Windows 11, setting Compatibility → Change high DPI settings → Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: Application (to increase the sharpness of the text and icons) for v2.5.0 prevents it from running. It’s not the case with v2.4.0. However, I don’t think it’s the default setting and I didn’t set it on that older laptop (later, I will check just in case, though).
I found there are some dll files missing in the newest PrePoMax versions. This could be the problem: PrePoMax fails under Linux since 2.4.4 - #9 by Matej
i downloaded from original release of stable versions (v2.5.0) seems working normally on Windows 10 of my computer here.
The problem is that the missing files are DLLs that are part of the Microsoft Redistributable library. If this library is installed, the files are found in the Windows/System folder. If not, they are missing. That is why I add them to the PrePoMax folder, so no installation is necessary. But I messed up something.
If only Gmsh is not working copy:
msvcp140.dll
vcruntime140.dll
from the NetGen folder to the lib folder.
It seems I will have to prepare a new PrePoMax version with bug fixes.
For me, adding those .dll files doesn’t help with the startup issue, unfortunately. I also checked that 2.4.3 works while 2.4.5 doesn’t (I don’t have 2.4.4). And that the Compatibility setting I mentioned above is not enabled.
