Currently if one uses a not yet defined Variable in a parameter formula, an error occurred:
So in this example, B must be defined before A.
My question is whether it would be possible to initially show the error only as a warning in order to offer the possibility of defining these missing variables in later rows to fix it:
This would make it possible, in a next step, to rearrange the parameters using up/down arrows.
Another example: imagine that you initially didn’t plan that far in advance when creating the parameter series and defined a formula with numbers in the first row (A=1+1). But later you want to replace these numbers with other variables. In that case, if i am not missing something, the entire list must be deleted and recreated in the necessary order.
In addition, I would like to suggest further points:
-
An additional column for comments
-
An additional column in which the use of the parameters is shown, e.g. parameter A → Surface_Traction-1
-
Showing/hiding optional columns in the parameter editor
-
Creating parameters “on the fly”
-
Expanding fields by pressing a key - this could be usefull to display extensive formulas or comments over several rows more clearly (this functionality is offered by Elmer, here it is the Enter/Return key):
-
If all input fields would support the use of parameters, the parameter editor could be used to show, check and directly change all model inputs clearly at a glance (especially in combination with points 1,2 and 4). An additional export as a csv file could finally help to create a clear model report.
