Corrupted files after saving?

Hi all,

Everything was all working great until today and now any time I go to open a saved .pmx file I get an error saying it is the wrong version or corrupted. Both 2.3 and 2.4 are doing this. I am totally stumped. This is with clean downloads.

I am currently resetting my windows install (it is probably time anyway) but I while I wait for that I thought I would ask if there was anything else to look out for.

I am using it to preprocess a model for LS Dyna/Radioss. I also have Ansys mechanical workbench but frankly it is just terrible software that produces horrible files that need even more work than importing a calculix inp into LSPrepost and saving as a k file. (Ansys should be ashamed) Until a week ago I hadn’t used Ansys in a couple of decades and I can’t say I have any interest in looking at it again. The whole interface is just bad, slow (minutes to open a new workbench), clunky and inconsistent. Analysis programs based around paper punch cards really need to be rebuilt from scratch.

One thing worth ensuring in such cases is that you are using only the directories where Windows admin rights aren’t required. Folders with restricted access used for PrePoMax installation or as working directories can cause a lot of trouble. Sometimes there’s also an issue with anti-virus software (especially McAfee).

Just in case, you can also try the newest dev version, which is 2.4.3 currently.

Thanks, I will see how it goes, it is all a bit strange as I haven’t changed anything recently.

Did you find anything?

sorry, I am not a very good bug reporter  I am working with the same sorts of files both with online folders and local and don’t have any issues running 2.4.3 dev.

Ok, I will close the topic. But I feel there are some problems still to be found.
