Stress/displacements according to cylindrical coordinates system

Hi

Once again i’ve tested how PrePomax is “user friendly”; even if i’ve no doubt about the accuracy of the interface, i wanted to test a well known test case: a thick cylinder under pressure.

Equations for the radial/tangential stress are:

Hand calculation using Excel:

2 test cases have been modelled under PrePomax:

  1. the cylinder axis coincides with the Z axis
  2. the cylinder is rotated and its axis is different from Z accordingly

For the 2nd test case, i noticed how it’s very easy to create the local (cylindrical) coordinates system using 3 nodes :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Obviously the results are identical in the 2 test cases and they follow the theory … once again it highlights how PrePomax is easy to use: congratulation for the Team :+1:
