Soil mechanic possibilities

is it possible to simulate soil behavior in prepomax?

You would likely need specialized material models. Some are available via MFront but Mohr-Coulomb is built-in since CalculiX 2.21. It’s not accessible in PrePoMax though so you would have to use the Keyword Editor to define it manually.

Thanks for fast reply

Dear FEAnalyst,
Would you mind if you could make simple examples on the usage of MFront for Soil Mechanics issue? I think Geotechnical students/engineers/Professionals would love to expand, extend and explore using Prepomax for Soil Mechanics/Geotechnics/Geotechnical Engineering due user-friendly GUI, and many specialists can help extend Prepomax for Structure-Soil Interaction problem too.
Thank you

hi, even Mohr-Coulomb available in CalculiX internally still other ones from MFront is more accurate since it has tension cut-off. Soil material models at MFront been extended and developed by OpenGeoSys and EDF R&D, it has many such as Modified MC (Abbo&Sloan), Hoek-Browm, Cam Clay (Modified) etc

PrePoMax also supported these external libraries in reading special characters and SDV output request trough menus, latest versions MFront also support variable names output.

I haven’t tried MFront yet, but I do plan more tutorials about simple, analytically verifiable geotechnical and civil engineering problems (even though it’s not my field of expertise so I’m really cautious about it). I’ll probably use the built-in Mohr-Coulomb model for that (hopefully, Drucker-Prager will also become built-in at some point).
