PrePoMax v2.6.0 - The mesher is busy

Hi,

I just downloaded PrePoMax v2.6.0 stable. And I keep getting errors like this when importing any geometry from .step:

I downloaded and imported the beam without issue…

If you clear the Temp folder and try again, are there any files? Can you share them for comparison?

No, it’s empty. There’s just this pop-up error message. It happens with any .step file, so I can’t import geometry into this version of PrePoMax.

What if you replace the Netgen folder with the one from the RC# if you still have it?
Is this the machine where you have Visual Studio installed?

I have the same issue with RC. Should I try using Netgen folder from v2.5.0?

I had such issues with previous versions of PrePoMax too, but they pretty much always somehow disappeared when switching from dev to stable versions.

Yes, the same Windows 11 computer. But it works with a self-compiled build.

Ah, it’s probably that issue with McAfee. I whitelisted the new binaries, but it still happens. Maybe it will go away with time.

It seems that PrePoMax does not have the permission to create files in the Temp Folder.

I have it installed under D:\PrePoMax\PrePoMax v2.6.0 and the temporary directory is simply D:\PrePoMax\PrePoMax v2.6.0\Temp. It works with v2.5.0, so I suspect McAfee. I’ll see if it disappears later (maybe after restarting the computer).

I’ll try again today and maybe uninstall McAfee to make sure that’s the cause. When that’s confirmed, I guess the topic can be closed (I don’t have the issue on another computer with Windows 10 and no McAfee).

Now it works. Apparently, I have to whitelist the files before running a new PrePoMax version for the first time, or it won’t work (and I’ll have to redownload PrePoMax).
