Yes, the most frequent case is the import of an existing model from another program that is without the geometric entities and/or custom set definition based on loads or boundary conditions.

So, the node set could be created or added to the original inp file when the file is imported. If later a node-set is needed (when the model is half prepared), the node-set can be added to the originally imported inp file, and the Edit-Regenerate command can be used.
It is cumbersome, but I think it should work.
