Changing contact between steps

Hi all, is there a straightforward way to run a step without contact and then turn it on for the next step? This is something I did in Abaqus all the time and it is useful when doing things like using temperature to preload or create interference fits.

Is it as simple as editing the input file?
Or perhaps there is a way to use Restart?

Yes, you can do it in the same way as in Abaqus - with the *MODEL CHANGE keyword. Check its description in CalculiX documentation: http://www.dhondt.de/ccx_2.20.pdf
