Cant Click On Surfaces

Hi , I am new to PreProMax and I was following FEAnalyst tutorial 5 for thin walled pressure vessel on youtube. I cant seem to click on surfaces to apply pressure loads. (I have imported Step file from onshape,).

Which version of PrePoMax are you using and what are the selection settings (in that small Set selection window) ? Can you share a screenshot or a gif showing what happens ?

I am using version 2.0.0 . I am selecting surfaces edges and vertices.

Try zooming in and out or moving the object. Try some other geometry (maybe solid) if it works. What are the dimensions of the object and are the dimensions in tact with the bottom scale bar? At the end try using developer version 2.0.4.

I have tried zooming in and out and moving the object but that doesn’t work. The scale looks OK. I will try your other suggestions and see if that works. Thanks

I have tried the suggestions but it still doesn’t work. See screenshot with solid elements. I can select the surface in red. But cant select the clouded surface. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,
I have the same issue. I tried a few versions of PrePoMax. Right now I use 2.2.8dev. I can create Node sets and Element sets on +X,-X sides of that part, but it won’t allow me to select the surfaces.

I can select some of them like below, but when I try to do it with “Surface angle” it doesn’t work.

I use Solid Edge for the export of the stp files.

Earlier, I had this part as a one piece, but in that case, the -Z side surface couldn’t be selected. Then I tried to split the part in CAD to create Transfinite mesh and now sides (+X, -X) are problematic.

I would like to send the pmx file, but attachments are blocked for me due to being a new forum user.

I had a similar issue selecting surfaces in latest version 2.2.8 yesterday.
I eventually got it done, but I am wondering if there is some change in the latest version that is causing this.

EDIT: Perhaps I should elaborate on the difficulty that I had… to successfully select a surface I had to ensure that the cursor was very much in the in the center of the surface (length and width). I shut down and restarted PPM, but nothing changed. Although today all seems to be fine

There is a bug in the 2.2.8 version with the selection of parabolic hexa elements. It is fixed and will be published as soon as possible.

A new version, v2.2.9, with the selection bug fix was released. Please confirm the correct behavior.

Tested on a single model; and no issues found on my end.
Thank you @Matej
