Hello everyone I am Subhkaran Singh, a master’s degree student. I want to simulate Heat generation in disc brakes for my master’s thesis. Heat Generation in a Disc Brake
Something similar to this. Please suggest to me how can I start.
Thank You

No progress after this discussion ?
Here’s another thread about this kind of simulations: Contact Analysis
HI,
Is it possible to save and play animations at constant time rate?
I’m not sure if I have not properly set some parameter but looks to me like if the animation progress is not proportional to the time step but kind of the number of increments invested.
See example. Analysis struggles at some point with large gradients and the animation struggles too.
Thanks
It seems that you have more frames for some range of time. Might be best to slow down the whole animation (using the FPS setting).
It happens the same. In fact it has crash and closed software if I start playing to much.
I think animation should be proportional to the time period to be representative of the real process evolution.
By other hand. It would be great if one could inspect different results and views without the need to close and open the animation bar each time.
No. Currently, each increment is counted as a single video image, and the time between images is constant. I agree that such functionality which takes time into account is needed.
Yes, that is unfortunate behavior. I am unable to determine what the problem is. It seems the problem comes from the VTK library I am using for 3D visualization since no errors are thrown inside the application. The VKT I am using is indeed a very old version but newer versions are not open-source anymore.
Yes. This also is an existing problem. This is done to prevent the user from changing the animation data to much since it can lead to application crashes described earlier. I will try changing this behavior and see how the stability of the application is affected by it.
Thank you Matej, Calc_em
The final aim of this analysis is to set up a *GAP HEAT GENERATION example.
I think I’m close but for some reason I can’t’ make it converge more than 6 to 8 steps. The result looks good, but it suddenly stops.
I have noticed you didn’t implement this card but *Gap conductance, which is almost the same complexity, it is present and working properly.
¿Did you delay the implementation of *GAP HEAT GENERATION for some reason, or it is just a matter of priorities?.¿Did you experience any issue with that card?.
I will continue to see if I can find my problem.
Regards
¿Could this be the source of your problem? If you try to plot each increment and analysis struggles a lot and it do not progress “uniformly” , It could make the frame rate to change like crazy. Sorry if I don’t express myself correctly. It’s kind of a vague idea thrown not very rigorously.
Yes, this is the problem. Currently, the time of the increment is not taken into account.
Thank you very much for the file.
Thank you for resharing.
