Hello everyone
Please can you give me list the correct steps to perform the following simple problem?
I have to simulate a steel block, initially at a temperature of -20° C, exposed in an ambient temperature of +27° C.
I would like to know after how long the steel block reaches the equilibrium temperature of 27° C, and possibly to display the temperature at the various time.
Thanks to all .
Cheers
Giovanni
- Import the geometry, possibly in step format
- Create a mesh
- Define material properties - density, thermal conductivity and specific heat
- Define the heat transient step, set it to transient and specify the proper step time
- Define the initial condition for the whole model with -20°C.
- Apply the convective film condition load to simulate convection acting on the external faces of the model. Specify the film coefficient (you can find it in various tables online or in books) and sink temperature (27°C).
- Run the analysis and examine the results once it completes.
You can find the details about how to find and use the aforementioned options in the User’s Guide on the PrePoMax homepage.
Perfect.
It works!!!
Thank you very much.

Hi everyone,
I replicated the analysis but I can’t see the results,
how I set the results to see the time?
thanks for your time, Luca.
You can switch between the time frames (increments) using the arrows and drop down list on the right side of the top toolbar.
