Hi,
It is possible to display the Sp+ by differentiating each face of a thin plate in bending (one is working in tension, the other in compression).
Thanks
Do you mean that you want to calculate the difference between the principal stress at the top and bottom face from a plot like this?
Hi @FEAnalyst ,
I want to see the Sp+ on each side, separately. Show the Sp+ on the top face (only), and on the bottom face (only). It’s not the difference.
I can do this, for example, in Ansys, by selecting the face and displaying the Sp+
But I’m interested in knowing how to show the Sp+ difference, and what reading can be made of that result
Thanks
Ok, I see. There’s no easy way to do it in PrePoMax but you can define a node set for each face and then add a custom keyword like this:
*El file, Nset=node_set_name
S
Then the stresses will be calculated only for the specified node set but you will still see extrapolation to the rest of the model:
Of course, you can apply section view to see only the region close to the surface.
Or, another workaround could be to add a thin membrane part to each face and tie it to the solid so that you can later display the stresses only in the selected “skin”.
