[Solved] Is anyone able to import this STEP/BREP file?

First of all I’d like to thank the community for creating this robust software – been using it since yesterday and was quite impressed.

I’m trying to import geometry of a wall assembly created in FreeCAD (BooleanFragments). I’ve tried both STEP and BREP formats with no luck. It tells me “There were errors while importing the file/files.”. I’m using v2.4.0. I was able to import a simpler geometry with no probs.

Here’s the FreeCAD file and the STEP file.

Try with a very simple model like a cube - it can happen when PrePoMax is in a directory requiring admin rights or even some antivirus software can block import. For me, this import works normally:

Imported concrete blocks.pmx (208.9 KB)

I’m also attaching PrePoMax file based on your model from the FreeCAD forum with analysis setup already defined:

CosmoKramer_FreeCAD_model.pmx (7.3 MB)

Just make sure I got all the materials and input values right. It would be easier if the materials were named btw.

Thank you @FEAnalyst!

I realised what was preventing the import: the path name was too long. Moved to desktop and imported from there and it worked.

I do have the objects named properly in FreeCAD, but when I create Boolean and import in PrePoMax they all disappear and are assigned a default name.

The directory is also very important in the case of such errors.

This is indeed the current limitation explained here: PrePoMax testing feedback - suggestions - #2 by Matej
