Hi, today when we double clicl one axis of the coordinate system of the screen, we have a “zoom all” action, could it be changed to "reorient the view to the normal plane to the axis double clicked? Maybe the FreeCAD orientation cube could be implemented, it has also the possibility to select the chamfered edges.
Clicking on the axis doesn’t do anything. A double-click on the background sets Zoom all.
I am not a fan of an additional tool for managing camera position. But I will look into some improvements to the coordinate system symbol, and a right-click context menu for the selected face in normal view can be added.
Thanks! Probably reorienting the view directly when the axis is clicked would be more natural than looking for the option in a contextual menu. Then there will be two direct interactions, double clic in an empty space for zoom all (great!) and double clic in the axis for reorienting the view to the normal plane. But what about the isometric views?
There are two normal views in general. One is normal to the axes. This one will be selectable by clicking the axis. There is also a normal view to the surface—the surface might be inclined to the coordinate axes. So this one cannot be done using the coordinate system, but must be activated at the selected mouse position.
The isometric view will be set by clicking the coordinate system origin. The closest isometric view to the current camera position will be activated.
For the normal view to the surface, maybe could be activated with a shorcut, imagine that the user select the face and after press A to align the view.
