Hi everyone,
In my opinion it would be VERY handy to be able to quickly rename any entity in the tree in all tabs (Geometry, FE Model and Results) by pressing F2 while the entity is selected, as in most Windows programs.
A nice extra could be a multiple rename when multiple entities are selected: you display a modal windows that asks for the “root name” or something similar, and PrePoMax renames adding “_1”, “_2” progressively to all selected names.

FreeCAD also uses this shortcut for renaming. It doesn’t have multiple rename, though. Abaqus/CAE has neither (it uses F2 for container filtering).
I was supposed to be a secret, but renaming was added to the developer version. Testing will be available in the next developer release. It can be done by a second left mouse click or by pressing F2
But only a single item can be renamed.
