Orthogonal shell mesh model

Hi, i have modeled plates in freecad imported it to prepomax but i am not able to connect plates in orthogonal direction.

i tried to connect them in freecad, made compound in freecad, didnt work, tried it in assembly perpendicular option.

tried compound in prepomax, but the issue is nodes are not comman between the connected location,

and if i am run the file the transverse plates are not reacting.

When having any doubts about connections, you should run a frequency analysis first to find disconnected parts/regions.

The MESH.pmx file has missing section assignment in one region but it also shows duplicated (overlapping) parts.

Finally, regarding connections, if compounding fails (which is often the case with shells due to misalignments or other reasons: Deformation in 2 or more bodies - #10 by Matej and Contact Generations issue Shell_Solid - #16 by Matej) and you can’t merge the parts in CAD either, you should just apply tie constraints to connect the parts. But make sure you have good meshes for that and select the coarser surface as master.

Automatic tie detection is available after right-clicking on Constraints and selecting "Search Contact Pairs: but use it with caution. You may need to significantly increase the position tolerance to make it work.

thank you ill go through the link you have shared.

hi i made the plates as you said and i followed the same operation but if i transferred it to prepomax still plates are split.

I can’t download your file. It shows this:

Error
The URL doesn’t have the correct format.

But it seems to happen because the stiffener doesn’t span across the entire plate:

As a workaround, you could split the whole plate along the stiffener:

Ok!! thank you very much its really helping a lot..
