Thank you @Matej , just tried v2.3.3dev and the mesh display appears now to be correct. The selected element type also remains the same as selected initially. Thank you for that!
One thing not displayed correctly yet are the boundary conditions, in the example the one for the short edges. The short edges after scaling and remeshing are then displayed for at least one at the long edges.
But when double clicking on the bc in preparation to reselect and correct this, the bc are shown on the correct edges.
I did change the example to Selection by ID prior to scaling and remeshing as recommended in this case. However, if the selection by location was selected before scaling, the bc as shown is switched too; when then Selection by ID is selected and bc reselected, the prior incorrectly shown bc are kept and not replaced in the new selection.
The constraints also do not update yet.
