Boundary GUI doesn’t display the Rotational DOF’s when the Cylindrical coordinate system is selected.
Is this a limitation ??
From the ccx documentation:
Notice that a *TRANSFORM card is not allowed for nodes in which boundary conditions are applied to rotations.
I think it’s an outdated note or maybe I’m wrong. The same ccx manual 2.21 page 110. states :
The treatment of the boundary conditions for shell elements is straightfor-
ward. The user can independently fix any translational degree of freedom (DOF
1 through 3) or any rotational DOF (DOF 4 through 6). Here, DOF 4 is the
rotation about the global or local x-axis, DOF 5 about the global or local y-axis
and DOF 6 about the global or local z-axis. Local axes apply if the transfor-
mation (*TRANSFORM) has been defined, else the global system applies.
The difference is noticeble .
I followed the CalculiX documentation. Are there any tests that confirm the rotational degrees of freedom are working?
I can contact Guido regarding this. If he confirms that it’s working normally, I will ask him to update the quoted part of the documentation (and other apparently outdated ccx manual info on this occasion).
I think this would be perfect.
I emailed Guido. I will let you know if he replies (usually takes a while).
Guido’s reply to this question:
I do not think it is safe to use a transformation on nodes belonging to 1D or 2D elements, however, I have to check that in detail.
P.S. New CalculiX version should be released by the end of July. Guido will try to fix some of the issues pointed out on GitHub.
