Boundary Conditions - Display

Good day,

If it’s not too much effort, I would like to propose that PrePoMax display the boundary conditions in a corner of the window similar to the below image on other commercial software.

This makes it very convenient when grabbing screenshots for report writing.

This is already available. Check View —> Color Annotations —> BCs. But it would be also nice to be able to display BC symbols in results.

Oh, I see. Neat; thank you.
Perhaps then just to include the values too?

Yes, that could be a potential improvement. For now, you could of course manually rename the BCs to include some details in their names but only the following characters can be used in names: letters, digits, symbols: minus/underscore/parenthesis.

If you will allow me, a further proposal on this same topic…

How about displaying Alphabetic letters to individuals Loads & BCs, so that it is easily distinguished between the different surfaces.

I include an example below comparing PrePoMax to a commercial software.

Perhaps even using different colours for different Loads & BCs ie Convection, radiation, temperature, flux, etc. (not shown below)

Why not use different colors for each BC to distinguish between them?

If I add letters, where should I display letters on the model if many surfaces are selected?

Good point. Changing colours of each BC works. I had overlooked this.

I guess letters would help where there are multiple BCs on same surface, example a convection and a radiation BC, which is possible. In the case below, you will note that only one of the colours can be displayed.

I understand. In such overlapping cases, the color is not enough.

Just to add to this post…

unfortunately the fact that PrePoMax does not allow special characters makes the desire to manually enter the units in the BC/Load naming challenging, if not impossible.

If possible, I would like to propose that the entered value AND the units be automatically displayed appended to the end of the BC/Load name (as seen on my top post here).

The names are limited since they are also used in the CacluliX file where special characters do not work. If I add the values of the loads, do we add only magnitudes or all components or both? This could quickly lead to a lot of data.

If PPM could add the value and units in the display automatically, then it would be easy for the user to enter BC/Load name using just the allowed characters.

See screenshot below of how other commercial software displays the components in a simple manner.

And then displaying all (except thermal bc) by adding Alphabet characters to distinguish between the different Loads
