Announcing PrePoMax/CalculiX Discord server and GitHub repo for validation cases

Hi,

following the recent discussions, we decided with @Matej that it would be good to have an official Discord server for PrePoMax (and also CalculiX plus other related solvers/tools) loosely based on the FreeCAD’s server. Here it is, you are welcome to join (this invitation link shouldn’t expire):

The advantage of Discord is that, unlike a regular forum, it allows quick and easy brainstorming on its chat-like text and voice channels. There are forum-like channels with threads too, though.

One of the reasons to have it is to allow better collaboration, e.g., on validation cases. Speaking about those, I’ve also set up a GitHub repo for them:

So far, I’ve included the whole ISO 10211-2017 validation performed some time ago. But we should also add NAFEMS and other cases there. If you want to add/change anything, feel free to submit a pull request or just let me know here or on the new Discord server. Of course, eventually we may move to GitLab or other platform, but for now GitHub seems to be the best choice.

How are files published. What is a pull request?

To add/change files directly, you can fork this repository:

Then go to your GitHub repositories and open this fork, create a new branch:

Make the changes on GitHub (upload/edit files):

and then you will be automatically asked if you want to submit a Pull Request so that these changes can be merged directly to the upstream (original) repository:
