2D Plane Stress Gear Analysis

Hi!

Fantastic program!

I’ve been trying to set up a 2D plane stress scenario of a pair of grears, where one gear is fixed and the other is rotating. I want to find the plastic collapse load.

I keep running into " *ERROR: too many cutbacks best solution and residuals are in the frd file"

Also, i’m not sure if my nonlinear setup is correct

Any chance someone could give me any pointers? (see attached model)

Try changing the incrementation settings to something like this:

inc

It will help the solver get through at least a few first increments. Then you may have to adjust the loading (reduce it for now) and extrapolate the plastic behavior because large stresses occur early in this analysis.
