Remote Point Deformation via Rigid Connection

I have a setup where there is an surface of the part where I am interested in the translation of a remote point connected to this surface (like a rigid cantilever).

So far I created a reference point which is connected to that surface via rigid body constraint. To evaluate the translation in the static (linear) simulation a created a history output on the reference point.

In the results the surface is deformed as expected, but the translation of said reference point is zero in all three directions.

What am I missing? Is it possible to create a node there to mimic the behavior?

Thanks in advance!

Can you share a screenshot of your setup or (better) .pmx file ?

I made a minimal example which does show translation on the reference point (have to compare with my more involved one).

But below you see the deformation and history output of the reference point (it should be in the rough region of 1,4 mm but in the x / U1 direction). It seams there is something going on when adding a frequency step as well. (I am a new user can’t upload a pmx –> screenshot)

The deformed shape also seems to indicate that the beam deflects in the second (Y) direction. How is load applied here ?

You should be able to upload files now.

I am very sorry … apparentyl I misread the results, thanks for the quick replys.

In the minimal example everything works as expected. Attached it for future reference anyway.

Just make sure that you set Perturbation to On in the second step if you want to account for preload from the preceding static step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M2BOHHkUf4

Regarding the mesh, it would be good to enable recombination (set Recombine algorithm to other than None in Extrude Mesh) and decrease the maximum element size (refine the mesh) for further studies.

Thanks, for the pointers.
Pertubation was not of concern (here).
