Reference Point Distance Scales

Hi, It’s entirely possible that I’m just making an error, but I’ve noticed that sometimes (haven’t worked out exactly when yet) the scaling of reference points seems to go a bit wrong and despite their coordinates being correct, they show up in the wrong location and it is as though they are using a different unit system to the rest of the model (see the scale bar at the bottom). please see the attached image of three ref points for refence (pun intended). Has anybody else seen this?

I should add that originally these points were scaled correctly against the solid model, but at some point the scale changed.

I see that you are using a unit system with meters. Make sure that your imported geometry has correct dimensions (note that the ruler at the bottom shows millimeters).

I’ve noticed that the entered reference point coordinates sometimes get reset when editing the subsequent input fields, but I haven’t noticed any incorrect placement. I pretty much always use the unit system with millimeters, though.

Thanks for the fast reply, I definitely picked the correct unit system when creating the model and everything looks fine to start with but something changed and all the ref points are squashed over on the left hand side. The bar at the bottom is correct for the scale of the imported parts.

Can you share the file ? At least a minimum reproducible example.

There is another bug report where the coordinates of the reference points are multiplied by 1000 in some cases.

But that case seems to use a model in millimeters, so I guess we may assume it’s not specific to models using meters.

My model is in mm too, I’ve just checked in the model properties, unit system is mm/ton/s.

When I created the ref points the unit in the wizard was in mm, but then it appears to have changed to m for some reason.

It appears that once the bug has occured, the initial value is interpreted in metres as opposed to the original unit of m. (so essentially dividing everything by 1000)

Since I am not able to reproduce the problem, I would need the model, if possible.
