Please advise me how to apply a linear load on the surface. The second question is how to move the load so that it is not in the center of the surface but shifted by some amount?

What do you mean by “linear load on the surface” ? A triangular uniformly distributed load like this ?
You would have to split the surface into smaller regions, it can be done in CAD software, before exporting the model to STEP.
I have a section of a brick wall with an arched brick ceiling according to the drawing and there is a load there.
Ok, I see. Then you could partition the surface (before importing to PrePoMax) in such a way that an edge is created there and forces nodes to be placed along it. But another, likely better approach would be to create a narrow surface there and apply the load to it.
