Frontistr is an open source parallel solver developed in Japan. Its input format is abaqus-like and can be use in add-on to Freecad, like calculix. I found a presentation (in Japanese) developed by structia LLC (structia.jp) and it seems promising. Anyone has more information?
Yeah, FreeCAD has add-on workbench for this solver: https://wiki.freecad.org/FEM_FrontISTR_Workbench
hi, thank you for share link of presentation and interface too PrePoSTR to download Distributed publicly as opensource in GitHub and hopefully the integration with PrePoMax become feasible.
Indeed, FrontISTR look promising as promoted to be fast solver like it shown in presentation to cut almost half in time of contact analysis.
In this thread, there are some interesting benchmarks comparing CalculiX and FrontISTR. For example:
the treads link of chart benchmark seems inactive, but i guess it’s a simple linear elastic analysis since original FC treads lack of benchmark in contact analysis i’m interested.
Old links to FreeCAD forum just need removing “web” from the address (now it’s forum.freecad.org instead of forum.freecadweb.org): https://forum.freecad.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58671&p=504665
The FreeCAD file is also provided.
