Helicoid revolved mesh

Good afternoon every one. I am trying to mesh the helicoid you can see in the attached picture using the command “revolved mesh”:

I get this error:

I tried also symplifying the problem considering one revolution at a time and even splitting the revolution by 90° but the error remains. I hoped it was possible to mesh such a geometry which is not so different from the spring in the PrePoMax v2.1.0 splashscreen. Am I missing something? Any suggestion?
Thank you very much!

The problem is that only revolved, not swept meshes are supported by the Gmsh mesher: Hex mesh sweep - extrusion along a curve (#2647) · Issues · gmsh / gmsh · GitLab

Matej’s spring was meshed using another technique - transfinite meshing: Matej Borovinšek on LinkedIn: #prepomax #mesh #gmsh #finiteelementanalysis #analysis #simulations | 21 comments

Transfinite meshing has special rules (only volumes with 5 or 6 faces having 3 or 4 edges each) and thus usually requires proper volume partitions.

thanks a lot, it turns out I was using the wrong command. With “transfinite mesh”, it works quite well:

hi, look great of both example but last model and mesh results contain wedge, linear element known not good.
