Do you have Tools ā Settings ā General ā Split periodic faces enabled ? If yes, try disabling it and then importing again.

For parts imported from CAD, it automatically splits periodic surfaces with only one edge (like cylindrical surfaces with the seam edge only) to allow sweep meshing which requires all side surfaces to be 4-sided. Thus, it can be helpful if you want to use sweep meshing but it sometimes causes issues like the one you experienced so you may want to disable it.
