Flanged colums: best way to evaluate buckling factor

Hi!

I have to design a flanged column: Hinge - segment - segment - Hinge

Segments are bolted by flanges. The problem is to evaluate buckling factor taking into account bolted connection and some imperfections because is not possible to build a perfect parallel flanges. I’ve specified a parallelism tolerance of 0.1 mm in the technical drawings (see attached picture).

Linear buckling analysis is not applicable because of contact and bolts…I think

Then you will need a static analysis with Nlgeom (geometrical nonlinearity) enabled. Imperfections can be applied as scaled mode shapes from linear buckling analysis. Here’s an example: https://youtu.be/Jq2mKRZmIsQ?si=Bx366O66LuSDbxtI
