Buckling Analysis Agazzotti

Buckling Analysis

I attach an example of static analysis + buckling analysis.

The static analysis provides consistent results; the buckling analysis is incorrect, both in terms of displacements and values. Perhaps because the model includes only compression and imposed displacements? I don’t understand why.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Contact is nonlinear, it won’t work properly in a linear buckling analysis. You should use tie constraints instead. The compression-only constraint also needs nonlinear analysis to work correctly (it uses nonlinear springs - very similar to those internally utilized for contact).

Also, keep in mind that Perturbation is disabled in your buckling step, meaning that it won’t take the preceding static step into account as a preload if that’s your intention.
