Dear All
I can not find where is mistake. When compare quuite easy structure which was done in creo simulate and PPM. Bonduary conditions identical, load identical material identical steel linear eleastic but result difference is significant.
What about the mesh ? Can you share the .pmx file ?
size of pmx file is too big
You have to change access to “Anyone with the link” first then copy the link again and paste it here.
Those are just the results without the setup ?
strange
pmx should contain geometry and FE model with bondary conditions applied forces and so on
Try opening it on your side. It looks like only the .frd file with CalculiX results was opened and then the file was saved.
I will try tomorrow , since now I have no access to source file
best regards
The setup looks good (if around 180 t is correct loading). The only problem is that the U3=0 boundary condition is causing stress concentration in that small area. But your question is about the difference between 2 solvers. I have an impression that the mesh in Creo Simulate is much more dense and thus the stress peaks you have jump due to singularity. Can you show the mesh from Creo and check the number of nodes and elements there ? Did you compare the displacements too ?
Creo simulate uses p-element method vs h-element method in most of solvers so overall look for mesh in creo might seem very coarse , but is ok
I can not reproduce this problem in other commercial solvers than creo to compare results
best regards
It seems to be a matter of the mesh (especially if displacements roughly agree). If you start refining locally where the stress concentrations are, you may see such high values in PrePoMax too. I don’t have experience with p-FEM so it’s hard for me to judge whether that mesh in Creo is good enough and I’ll just assume that it’s ok, as you said.
Have you got possibility to check in other software than mentioned ?
We use creo simulate and so far there were no problems with results accuracy
best regards
but for second order elements mesh quality and dense of quality play secondary role .
Why are there some arrows on top pointing in diferent directions?
