Contact type hard and friction

Maybe I’m repeating some threads but I need more detailed info regarding contact
for static analysis surfaces which are planed to be in contact shoud be coincident at least partially or can be some clerance/gap . I have done many contact analysis using Prepomax but only when surfaceces were coincident computtations were successful. Have you some tricks regarding this topics ? I also used linear contact but computation as mentioned above were divergent.Next question how many parts can be in contact counting first part as structure to second and second to third and third to normal structure ( in real pipe/bush/spacer/forkstructure)and also in second direction pipe to bush/pin/fork?

It’s better to avoid gaps since they cause initial rigid body motions and thus non-convergence. Adjustment can help with that but modeling parts without clearances or even with small penetrations (to be resolved by this strain-free adjustment) is a good practice.

There’s no specific limit of parts in contact but contact is computationally expensive and often troublesome so it might be better to avoid it when it’s not necessary.
