Sweep mesh: n layers capability

Hi,

As for Extrude and Revolve mesher, i think it will be relevant for Sweep to be able to define a nlayers value (so that meshes remain coincident typically).

In a more general way, the edge discretization is sometime difficult to impose when using only the size elements; as in Gmsh, it might be powerfull to have such feature.

Propomax remains a very promising tool :+1:

Currently, you can define the element size in the sweep direction using mesh refinement.

yes, but I’m saying that if we have the opportunity to define a “nlayer” parameter as for “Extrude” and “Revolved”, then we can have a better control on the discretization of each sub-volume prior to merge nodes i.e. gmsh “coherence” (see difficulties in this post )

Mesh refinement with number of elements per edge option (in addition to the current element size setting) would also help here: Mesh refinement of edges with gmsh

Agree on the principle with Jakub.

Just to illustrate it: i tried to get a “transfinite” mesh using a model found in the site but with no sucess.

Try it with GMSH-shell and quasi-structured

that’s what i did with almost all options

There are some issues that should be corrected first in this model. Such as those small faces:

ahhhhh … indeed :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:
Need to check the cad at each step
