Surface contact

Hello!
I’m looking for a tutorial about how to study surface contacts.
I think to two case:

  • solid model (from step or IGES file)
  • Surface model, Just planes…
What I want to study, is the thicknes of the join surface tied up through bolt and nuts.
I’ve got notice that the result depends on the few parameters but can change the answer, the solution.
So, I’m quite sure to do something wrong that’s why I’m looking for a tutorial.
    Thank you.

Contact in CalculIX can be quite sensitive to its properties. This thread on the CalculiX forum and the video mentioned at the end of it provide various tips regarding the selection of those parameters: Snap-fit contact snagging problem - CalculiX (official versions are on www.calculix.de, the official GitHub repository is at https://github.com/Dhondtguido/CalculiX).

However, each case is different and we would have to take a look at yours to find what’s wrong.

You are so kind…
Thank you. I need to study very hard, but I’ll share, in case of problems, my model.

Thank you again.
