Just don’t forget about the NODAL THICKNESS parameter for *SHELL SECTION 
right, a missing feature which has been discussed since hydrostatic implementation in PrePoMax. Selection node group and interpolate their thickness manually make it cumbersome and difficult for complex model.
can be useful to modeling of seam welds, even it still has fiew of limitations.

sure, below an attachment. The model of seam weld in flat plates need to improve based on edge offset with actual distance of weld legs. For better analysis results, need to re-mesh to following curved geometry (group of node may need to redefine) and use layered shell in any part whenever possible for element set without nodal thickness assigned.
