hi, during meshing algorithm assigned to parts it generates default element type for hexahedral. Currently element type of hexahedral generates are C3D8 for linear and C3D20 for quadratic as default. Users need to change manually one by one in part properties for whole parts, it could be cumbersome for large parts in models for redefining another element type i.e C3D8R and C3D8I (linear) or C3D20R (quadratic). An option to assign default hexahedral element type generates can eliminating this tedious task probably, thank you.

Btw. maybe C3D8R should be default like in Abaqus.
i expect no fixed default element type, left the user defined in option menus since no one element type can fit for all cases.
p.s CalculiX GraphiX (CGX) have this option before meshing element is generated.
Of course, but something has to be provided as the default setting (even the Tools → Settings option needs a default value). And C3D8R elements are the most versatile, at least in Abaqus. This default setting was well thought out by the developers.
