How to carry settings from one version to another?

Hello! I hope you’re doing fine.

Usually, I always use the latest PrePoMax versions. Still, every time another one is released I need to update the default settings again (such as the number of processors, background color, undeformed colors, and so on…) and even though this is not a great problem, it would be nice to carry the defaults for the next release. Is there a way of doing this?

Best regards,
Lucas.

You can copy the settings.bin file for this purpose.

Can’t this procedure crash something else in the software? Or is it a safe way to transfer the settings? For now, I already changed everything to my preferences manually, but I will try it in the next versions.

Thank you!

I do this manually because I only change 3 settings but it should work with the file as well.

The proposed method should work in most cases. If a new setting is added it might not be set to the correct default value if the file is copied. The problem might occur if I change or rename some settings. This will not happen often.
