Hi I have a metal rod with a bracket holder inside a metal cylinder shield. I have defined a hard contact between the shield and the bracket holder and a tie contact between the rod and bracket. I am doing a vibration nodal analysis and the results are showing that the bracket will hit the cylinder, however it shows it as it’s breaking through the cylinder where I would expect it not to come through the cylinder ??? Any help would be great thanks
Modal analyses are linear and can’t account for changing contact conditions. So basically contact is frozen in the current position and works like tie constraint (or tied contact) in those analyses. Thus, it will only work if the surfaces are touching initially.
Thank you so much -
