Contact pairs taking several hours

Is there any way to speed up assigning the contact pairs? When I do Search Contact Pairs, swap a few masters/slaves, and hit OK, the process takes several hours. Granted it is a large model (53 MB .pmx file). I’m using a remote HPC with 4x vCPUs AMD EPYC. Here’s the .pmx file

I can confirm that the search itself is quick, but then it takes a lot of time to actually create the pairs (tie constraints in this case). It freezes indefinitely for now. You don’t have that many parts in this model, but I guess some of them have more complex shapes/interfaces and this slows it down.

It would be best to create the pairs gradually. Unlike in Abaqus, you can’t change the search domain, but you can adjust the search criteria to create less parts in one go.

I was able to reduce the time it takes to create all constraints in the supplied file from a really long time to a couple of minutes (about 5 minutes on my PC). It is not ideal, but much better than previously.

This fix will be available in the next PrePoMax version.

Thank you @Matej – much appreciated

Now I was able to reduce the time to under a minute. I hope it will not produce any new problems
