In short words, Pardiso is usually the best choice and it’s the default solver in recent versions of PrePoMax. However, it’s always good to try reducing the size of the model by utilizing symmetry, 2D analysis or shell elements.

And you often don’t need second-order hexahedral elements - you can try with C3D8R (multiple through the thickness) or C3D8I.

For such models with an almost constant stress through thickness, a 2D model would be beneficial in terms of computational effort.
