The largest new features are the Python integration and the XY Plot panel.
View → Side panels → XY Plot
the XY Plot panel is only a visualization for history outputs - no new/changed history outputs can be created using it
up to 4 separate plots are supported
a history output can be added to the active (selected) plot by right-clicking it in the tree (Add to Plot, Add to New Plot)
the plot and curve settings are available by double-click
View → Side panels → Python Script Editor
the panel is split into the script editor (top) and Python console (bottom)
currently only commands for results post-processing are supported
there are two ways of using the Python panel. Interactive and Workflow execution. In the interactive mode, all Python - PrePoMax commands are directly executed using the built-in history commands. The script is not recorded in history, but the commands that started from the script are. If the model is rebuilt using Regenerate, the commands are run from the command history. In the workflow mode (Record script into command history), the script is recorded as a history command. During regeneration, the script is run again.
I would need feedback for the trackpad integration. I have a modern laptop with a precision trackpad, and the integration works, but I did not test it on older laptops.
On modern laptops, the trackpad can serve as a 3D mouse while the normal mouse can be used for selection simultaneously. It works surprisingly well.
But to be fully functional, the base selection process in PrePoMax would have to be changed. It would have to move away from the Shift and Ctrl keys (since one hand is on the trackpad and the other on the mouse) and adopt something modern CAD software offers. Each click adds to the selection if the clicked geometry is unselected, or removes it if it is already selected. So no additional buttons are needed.
great enhancement in Python integration, many thanks. Perhaps, calling Gmsh library will be supported nearly and brings the possibility to create parametric CAD parts model in Step format without external programs.
Due to the bug, Python can only be used with the PrePoMax console build (PrePoMax.com). If PrePoMax.exe is used, Python does not work. I will fix it shortly in a new developer release.
