I’m Arocena Jess Susmerano, call me Jess.
I’m so proud to be a member of this forum. I’m passionate about learning Linear & Non Linear FEA, and I’m excited to meet and collaborate with other people who are interested in FEA, especially modeling, calculation processing, and application.

I started using FEA in 2002 when I was designing a temporary blind plate to be welded on an 84-inch pipe that was to be hydrotested at 1.5x design pressure. Everyone else was designing the plate with a thickness of 60mm with spider rib plate, but when I modeled it in FEA, I found that a thickness of 50mm was sufficient and safe, without the need for a spider rib plate. I also saw that the blind plate had bulged, and water exploded in some cases because it had been used at a higher pressure than it was designed for. This showed me the power of FEA to identify and compare and check the result and realize using FEA can predict potential failures.

Since then, I have become increasingly passionate about FEA. From that time until now I am using FEA in application for design optimization. However, I have also encountered many difficulties and challenges, especially with things that are not covered in books or by structural analysts. This was a very difficult, very frustrated time for me. I believe this forum and organization is great to join.

That’s all for now. I’m happy to meet you all, and I hope we can share and help each other.

Sincerely your’s,
Jess

I’m interested on FEA simulation and helps, contribute to the development of software by means of collaboration about the functionality of the FEA solver. Design optimization and determine the capacity of the structure. In this way before we lift a heavy object, we have basis for safety of the design.
