Hello everyone,

With the release of v.3.0.0 I stumbled upon a new strange behavior of the solver. The simulation runs for some time and then it freezes with no obvious reason.
I started the simulation fully built up with the new release of PPM and at some point it just froze after I ran the analysis. The loading bar in the monitor is still moving, but nothing is being calculated! I looked at the CPU in the task manager and it is obviously not doing any serious work, as if the simulation was canceled. I have no other indication what is wrong, since the output tab is not moving as well.

The simulation is just stuck and it can go for hours like that. In the screen shot you can see that PPM covered 0,325s of the whole requested time step of 1s.

This was calculated in 785s and the waiting has gone for 1880s before I killed the simulation.

Another thing - I noticed that when one increment is calculated it takes a bit more before going into the next one. It pauses for no apparent reason.

When the kill button is pressed a new data point appears on the monitor.

Has someone encountered anything like that as of v.3.0.0 or a previous build?

How can I solve it?

Try submitting the input file outside of PrePoMax to see if it’s CalculiX getting frozen: [Using standalone CalculiX](https://prepomax.discourse.group/t/using-standalone-calculix/846)

Great advice. Indeed, the simulation froze in Calculix in a similar fashion, so I will raise the question in their forum.

Thanks for the fast troubleshooting!

So can we close the topic for now?

Yes, sure. I will inform about the case in the Calculix forum.
