It would be really nice to have a way to show the applied local properties assigned to a particular part, when there are parts as shown it is difficult/impossible to determine.

thanks

The problem is that a single mesh refinement can be applied to multiple parts, so grouping refinements under part containers wouldn’t work (I assume we don’t want them duplicated). Perhaps there could be a tooltip (shown when hovering over a refinement) listing parts to which refinement is applied. Or parts in the model tree or 3D view would be highlighted when selecting a refinement. Other parts could even become temporarily transparent.

I guess the same could apply to other mesh items.

So you need a way to display the mesh setup items for a part. Should the items be highlighted in the tree or in the 3D view?

I am not exactly sure of the best way, but I think ideally you would click on a part and that would open a list of all the connected meshing properties (local density, rotate, extrude etc), clicking on one of those in the list would highlight them in the tree. If you have a local mesh applied to multiple parts I don’t think it is a problem to just show that.

I am not a GUI expert by any means 🙂 I just found it confusing to trouble shoot when I managed to assign two properties to the same edge, part etc. this probably isn’t a high priority, just something to think about. I have no idea how complicated this would be.

The models I am working on right now are the first complicated solid fully hex meshed parts I have done in Prepomax so perhaps it is just a matter of a learning curve.

thanks

The new version v2.6.0 RC1 now highlights the mesh setup items connected to the selected part, and vice versa.

Thanks, that is great.
