# Select Force Without Fixed Region

Hi everyone,

You can see fixed region on picture one. I want to give force surfaces without fixed region. How can i select surfaces without fixed region?

Selecting regions for boundary conditions and loads based on unstructured mesh is difficult - you won’t be able to do it precisely. Instead, I would advise you to partition the surfaces of the model in CAD software, before importing to PrePoMax. This way you will be able to apply BCs and loads right where they should be placed.

With the partitioned geometry will work, the problem arises with an orphan (imported) mesh, there is no CAD surfaces to reference. The selection tool of surfaces could let select individual element faces by hand.

If you switch to FE mesh based selection it is possible to select individual nodes, elements, edges, …
