Hello Guys,

During my my master dissertation I used the von Mises equivalent stress result in ANSYS to calculate the fatigue life analysis using gerber, goldber and soderberg analysis, with a fatigue concentration factor to take in considaration welds and defects. Is it possible to implement this same processos with the flexibility to use non conventional fatigue criterea like the ASME Div 2 Sec. VIII for pressure vessels?

For that, it would be necessary to implement:

- take the von Mises stress results to run a secundary analysis
- Stress x Nº of Cycles in the Material Section
- Fatigue life reduction factors (Confiability, Temperature, Surface Finish) in the fatigue module
- Fatigue life critereas ( Gerber, Soderberg, Goodman, Custom) in the fatigue module
- Safety factor and nº of cycles plot in the result section

If needed, i have a draft of this code in python that I made during my master degree taking Ansys results as the input data to check if the safety factor was correct.

Thank you in advance!

That looks great, there are very few fatigue open source programs. I know Fatlab, but it´s requires a Matlab licence as far as I know.

Thanks for sharing the link Sergio. Looks interesting.

There is an article which is published by ansys about the fatigue life tool development.
