Hey everyone,

ist there a way to evaluate radial displacement in the post processing in PreProMax?
I know that it can be calculated by the x and y displacement (z-axis is rotational axis).
If not, what would be an easy way to do it in another open source software which can read the results of calculix?

Thanks in advance
Eric

ok, i found out by myself.
For others, searching for this feature:

1. Insert a cylindrical coordinate system in the results tab
2. Create a new Field output, select coordinate system transformation and use the new coordinate system and the displacements as input.
3. Radial displacements are U1, tangential disp are U2 and displacement in z are U3.

Eric

That’s right, since v2.2.0, it’s possible to transform the results to a user-defined coordinate system. Same with e.g. stresses. Previously, it was necessary to use ParaView and proper formulas (ParaView still can’t do it automatically): [https://youtu.be/wRcTD1zSbLU?si=Bcp8PxH5h4m\_XVSv&t=602](https://youtu.be/wRcTD1zSbLU?si=Bcp8PxH5h4m_XVSv&t=602)
